On-Site Electrician
Job description
A qualified and experienced On-Site Electrician to support the day-to-day electrical maintenance and infrastructure of our busy haulage depot. Based on-site, working across a variety of facilities including warehouses, offices, workshops, and external yard areas, ensuring all electrical systems remain safe, functional, and compliant with UK standards.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with a strong background in commercial or industrial environments and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on all site electrical systems.
- Install, maintain and upgrade electrical wiring, lighting, distribution boards, emergency systems and security-related infrastructure.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults quickly and effectively to minimise downtime.
- Support fit-outs and modifications to office and warehouse spaces, including power and data installs.
- Maintain and test emergency lighting, fire alarms, and life-safety systems.
- Ensure electrical compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and relevant Health & Safety legislation.
- Maintain records of inspections, risk assessments, and certification.
- Respond to out-of-hours callouts as part of the maintenance rota (if required).
- Liaise with contractors, utilities, and internal departments during infrastructure works or site upgrades.
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency and system improvements.

Skills, experience and qualifications
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (Inspection & Testing) desirable.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercial, logistics, or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of building wiring systems, three-phase supplies, and power distribution.
- Comfortable working at height, in confined spaces, and outdoors when required.
- Strong fault-finding skills and an organised, proactive working style.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- PASMA, IPAF, or Working at Heights certification.
- Experience with access control, CCTV, and BMS systems.
- PAT testing qualification (C&G 2377).
