Iggesund paper mill
The units were discharged from ungeared vessel and transported at night due to the size of the load arriving into the paper mill in the early hours.
A 90te condenser, measuring 15m x 4.2m x 4.5m was the first unit to be installed. It was unloaded from the trailer using a 200te capacity gantry system, propelled into the building from the side of the generator hall, transferred onto a hydraulic skid system to be skidded above its sprung foundation, jacked and positioned onto its mountings. Due to the limited space, special modifications had to be made to the Allelys equipment to allow the condenser to be lifted through a temporary removable section of track. The neck section was then lifted into position from above and a site weld completed.
An elevation of 17m
A steam turbine weighing 233te and a generator weighing 120te were then installed on the table top above the condenser at an elevation of 17m. This was completed using a strand jack system that was rigged from the table top out through an opening in the end elevation of the building. The system lifted the units from ground level to a height of 17m before being propelled into their final location.
