Specialist transport solutions
With specialised trailers including SPMTs, girder frames, modular trailers, bespoke rolling stock trailers, beam trailers and vessel beds, wafer decks and semi-low loaders, Allelys are able to provide specialist transport solutions across the UK and Europe.
Our extensive specialist transport fleet provides a wide range of capable options for transporting specialist loads in and around the UK and Europe. Our fleet is designed to provide suitable solutions to overcome infrastructure challenges.
Heavy lift and specialist transport
Girder frame trailers are designed to transport the load at a lower profile than SPMTs or modular trailers. They also increase the surface area that the gross load is distributed over. These design features enable the transport to travel via routes with height and weight restrictions that could not be overcome with other specialist transport solutions.
SPMTs, or self propelled modular trailers, utilise a hydraulic power pack to provide the power to lift, drive and steer. They are primarily used off the public highway to transport very large loads. The manoeuvrability of SPMTs also make them an ideal specialist transport option within sites with restricted space.
Modular trailers
Modular trailers are coupled with a tractor unit and are most commonly used for longer distances. Allelys categorise the fleet of modular trailers into:
Vessel bed trailers – where there are axles before and after a set of beams. The cargo sits on the beams. This trailer is often used when there are height restrictions as the load can either sit on the flanges of the beams or directly on the beams themselves.
Drawbar/Flat top trailers – where the drawbar is followed by a number of axles. The cargo sits directly on the axles.
Bogies – a set of axles. The load can either span the two bogies to form a connection or a girder frame can be used to carry the load between the bogies. A turntable can be positioned on top of the bogies to allow the bogies to turn independently of the load.
