Heavy lift engineering solutions

Our large equipment fleet enables us to offer the full factory to foundation service.

With heavy lift equipment including cranes, skidding systems, hydraulic gantries and jacking systems alongside specialist transport equipment such as girder frames, SPMTs and modular trailers, we’re able to handle all types of heavy lift cargo. Our engineering capabilities are therefore a key component to the successful delivery of each project.

Our In-house Engineering Team

The Allelys in-house engineering team are available to support customers across every sector and are specialists in heavy lift engineering.

All of our heavy lift projects are engineered in-house and we enjoy projects that test us. Our team work closely with customers to develop bespoke solutions for each individual project requirement. We believe every challenge, no matter how big or small, is better tackled as a team and the knowledge and experience within the department means we excel on even the most complex projects.

Heavy lift engineering capabilities

  • Designing fully engineered lift plans.
  • Specifying the lifting tackle and also supplying the equipment if required.
  • Designing lifting frames and lifting equipment as well as fabricating them.
  • Load testing and proof testing equipment.
  • Weighing exercises and mass calculations on large items.
  • Supporting projects by completing both desktop route reports and driven route surveys. Our engineers use mapping to identify suitable routes for the abnormal load cargo. If required, a driven route survey is then completed to identify items of street furniture that may need to be removed and foliage that needs trimming to enable the heavy lift cargo to pass through. Challenging aspects of the route will also be photographed, the height of overhead lines will be measured along with measuring pinch points along the route.

Heavy lift engineering capabilities

  • Swept path analysis of junctions or crossroads within the route that may be challenging for the abnormal load. Our engineers will simulate the heavy lift equipment travelling through these sections to ensure that the route is possible.
  • Managing all elements of the abnormal load permits required for the project.
  • Designing and engineering overbridging solutions for structures along the route.
  • Designing and engineering bespoke heavy transport solutions and arrangements.
  • Producing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for all operations.

Excellence Delivered

Case Studies

Each and every project is unique. Our vast service offering and extensive equipment fleet enables us to work on some of the most exciting and challenging projects within the UK. Take a look at a selection of our case studies below.

Allelys have successfully completed the transport and crane lift operation for the installation of a 146te Yankee drying cylinder at Shotton Mill in Flintshire.
Allelys’ AK912 mobile crane returned to the UK market to lift critical infrastructure at Port of Sutton Bridge. This project marked the AK912’s first project lifts since the crane underwent a full refurbishment.
Allelys has successfully delivered a turnkey solution for the transport and installation of critical equipment at the Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant.
Allelys have successfully completed the transport and installation of a 309.5te turbine, 326.1te generator and 221.8te transformer from Newport Docks to Hirwaun Power Station.
