Allelys shortlisted for three Heavy Lift Awards

We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for three Heavy Lift Awards including:

The winner of each category will be announced during the awards ceremony held at the Grand Elysee, Hamburg on 22nd September.

Excellence in Engineering

This award will be presented to the transport engineering team of a company that has taken part in a complex project in the past 12 months, which has demonstrated its ability to overcome unusual challenges using customised engineering solutions.

The Allelys entry detailed an innovative engineering solution that improved safety and minimised disruption for our client and the public – a true example of excellence in engineering. The project, which ran from October 2021 – April 2022, was a complex multi-stage transportation and installation of a reactor and transformer, using a range of equipment and advanced techniques. A project that required engineering solutions for transport arrangements, 44 structures along the route, a unique overbridging operation as well as the installation of both the 150te reactor and 195te transformer.

Overland Transport Provider of the Year

This award will be presented to an equipment-owning company that has executed an outstanding overland project cargo movement – by road, rail or inland waterway – in the last 12 months. Entries should demonstrate a commitment to the safe, efficient and innovative transport of heavy and oversize project cargoes. Allelys most outstanding transportation project this year was the multi-stage delivery of a 150te reactor and 195te transformer from Staffordshire to Ninfield Substation. Not only was it deemed exceptional from an Allelys point of view, it also hit the headlines internationally. This project demonstrates our versatility when it comes to deploying the most efficient transport equipment and methodology for each project. More significantly, it featured a UK ‘first’, unique techniques, innovative approaches and many project challenges.

Project of the Year

This award will be presented for the successful execution of a large-scale, complex logistics project, involving the door-to-door delivery of multiple oversize and/or heavy cargoes. Allelys broke records within the heavy lift industry by executing the UK’s first double girder frame convoy. The project, which ran from October 2021 – April 2022, was a complex multi-stage transportation and installation of a reactor and transformer, using a range of equipment and advanced techniques. With a convoy totalling a gross weight of 669te navigating a route that required 44 structures to be investigated and a unique overbridging solution engineered, it truly was a stand-out project of the year.
