Upgraded in line with the latest stage v emissions standards
The new power unit replaces the crane’s previous engine and brings it in line with the latest Stage V emissions standards. It also operates more quietly, supporting Allelys’ wider commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its operations wherever practicable.
Alongside the engine replacement, the AK912 has been equipped with a new control and instrumentation display. This has been fully integrated and includes remote monitoring capability, providing improved access to operating and performance data.
Ensuring the fleet continues to meet evolving requirements
The upgrade was completed over a three month period within the Allelys’ workshops, with support from Deutz UK. The project drew on the experience of both teams to integrate the new engine and control systems into the existing crane.

It was a complex upgrade, carefully planned and completed in-house to ensure that the crane can continue supporting major projects across the UK,”

Following commissioning and testing, the AK912 successfully completed its first lifting operation with the new engine, where it was used to discharge two 186te transformers from a river barge before lowering them onto two 14 axle flat top trailers for onward transportation to site.
The operation marked the successful return of the AK912 and demonstrated the performance of its upgraded power system in a live project environment.
