Vehicle Mechanic / Fitter

Job description

The role is to maintain the Allelys fleet of vans and company vehicles in a safe and road worthy condition within manufacturer guidelines, vehicle operating standards and compliant with MOT dates.

Key responsibilities

  • To ensure that all work carried out is within the guidelines as directed by manufacturers, traffic regulations, risk assessments, Health and Safety Regulations and also according to DVSA standards.
  • To carry out routine maintenance inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in a safe and roadworthy condition, paying attention to the routine servicing and mandatory checks that need to be carried out and to complete Pre-MOT inspections.
  • To complete mechanical fault finding, electrics and repairs to maintain all vehicles.
  • To carry out vehicle repairs and modifications as required and as requested.
  • To report any major faults, defects, problems, malfunctions, accidents or incidents to the Plant/Workshop Manager.
  • To ensure that work area is kept clean and tidy.
  • To conduct the role within as directed by the Company and within the guidelines outlined within the Group Rules and Policies.
  • To perform any duty within the Company that is a reasonable request within the performance, skill and ability level of the Vehicle Mechanic.
  • Any additional responsibilities listed are subject to having received the correct training and holding valid certificates where applicable.

Skills & qualifications required

  • Full, clean and valid UK driving licence
  • Level 3 Advanced Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organisation skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
  • Experience working with a range of vehicles
  • Experience of inspection, repair and service of a range of vehicles

  • Position reports to: Plant/Workshop Manager
  • Location: Studley, Warwickshire
  • Hours: 40 hours per week plus overtime as required
